mLogica Launches AI-Powered Deterministic Platform to Address Mainframe Modernization Failures

News

Las Vegas, April 30, 2026 — mLogica LLC has announced the launch of its AI-Powered + Deterministic Modernization platform, positioning it as a direct response to growing concerns around the failure of AI-led mainframe transformation initiatives.

The launch comes amid warnings from Gartner that nearly 70% of AI-driven mainframe exit projects are expected to fail by 2026, largely due to overreliance on generic generative AI models that produce inconsistent and non-certifiable outputs.

A Shift from Generic AI to Deterministic Modernization

mLogica’s platform, built around its LIBER*M suite, combines purpose-built Small Language Models (SLMs) with deterministic execution pipelines. Unlike general-purpose AI, these SLMs are trained on real enterprise production code including COBOL, Assembler, PL/I, JCL, and IMS, enabling consistent, repeatable, and auditable outcomes.

“Mainframe exit programs have struggled for decades, often due to solutions that lack understanding of real production environments,” said Amit Okhandiar, President and CEO of mLogica. “Our models are trained on actual enterprise systems, allowing outputs to be certified before deployment, something generic AI cannot guarantee.”

Three-Stage Governed Approach

The platform introduces a structured, governance-driven modernization lifecycle:

  • Understand: AI-assisted discovery and business logic recovery before transformation begins
  • Transform: Deterministic, SLM-driven code and data migration through controlled pipelines
  • Operate & Evolve: Post-migration optimization using AI within defined guardrails, including CI/CD, automated testing, and environment management

At each stage, mLogica generates a comprehensive “release-gate evidence package,” documenting changes, validation processes, and certification readiness, critical for regulated industries.

Industry Recognition and Partnerships

mLogica’s approach has gained recognition from ISG Provider Lens, which named the company a Leader in its Mainframe Application Modernization Software quadrant (March 2026).

Pedro L. Bicudo Maschio, Lead Analyst at ISG, noted that the company “combines deterministic automation with GenAI across code, data, and middleware, enabling secure and compliant modernization at scale.”

Global consulting firm Thoughtworks has also partnered with mLogica to support enterprise modernization efforts.

“In regulated sectors, certification, not speed, is the true measure of success,” said Rav Hayer, Managing Director for UK & Ireland at Thoughtworks. “mLogica’s deterministic approach provides the auditability and governance our clients require.”

Proven Results in Production

mLogica reports successful deployments across government and financial sectors, including:

  • A U.S. state agency completing a full IMS-to-Db2 migration with zero service disruption
  • A European government migrating a 54,000 MIPS IBM mainframe to Linux, eliminating approximately $25 million in annual costs
  • A North American financial institution modernizing large-scale COBOL and Assembler workloads to C# and Azure within three months, reducing manual effort by 60%

According to Carl LoBue Jr., SVP of Finance and Operations at mLogica, the company’s delivery model is centered on predictability: “No surprises in production is not a goal, it’s our standard.”
